If you have any doubt or question about what the healthcare provider is saying regarding your treatment or diagnosis, ask for another explanation. Ask for it to be explained in a different manner, by someone else, in a different language…ASK! We would rather you ask then go home unclear about your medical diagnosis or treatment. Really, we would!! Be sure to ask about who you should be following up with, and when. Ask “What if questions”: What if I get worse? What if this or that happens? Ask about symptoms you should be concerned about. Ask for your healthcare provider’s business card and ask them if and when they are available to answer your questions that may arise when you arrive home.
