Yes it is better for the patient if he goes to a hospital familiar with his medical history. Especially if the history is very complicated. When you bypass your hospital (unless you have a good reason to do so) you are going to unfamiliar territory. If you are seeking a second opinion, it may make sense to go to a new Hospital. Try to ask your primary physician which hospitals they cover so that if there is an emergency and you need to go to the hospital, someone familiar with your history can see you.
